Stalybridge Celtic have signed Lassana Nalatche Mendes ahead of the 2017/18 season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

The 24-year-old is confirmed to be Celtic’s sixth summer signing, following the capture of defender Adam Jones; midfielders Gary Gee and Andrew Langord; and strikers Charlie Ennis and Aaron Burns.

Manager Steve Burr said he was delighted to have signed Ennis, adding: “Charlie is well known to the football club following a number of stints here over the years. He did well under Keith (Briggs) when he was managing here a few seasons ago.”

Burr was equally as delighted to have signed Gee for another season. He said: “He impressed me over the short period I was at the club at the end of last season.

He picked up an injury towards the end of the season, but we’ll be getting the best out of him in the coming season.”

Mendes joins the club having previously captained Radcliffe Borough during a number of games throughout last season.

His efforts were recognised at the clubs end of season awards night, picking up the Players’ Player of the Season.
