A number of players have re-signed for Ashton United ahead of the 2017/18 season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Josh Stachini, a versatile left-sided player, has re-signed for the club having helped the Robins to a mid-table finish last season.

Stachini has previously played for Manchester City, Sheffield Wednesday and Motherwelll, and has also represented Northern Ireland at under 19 level.

Also staying are defenders Dominic Smalley, Cavell Coo and Domenico Maiese, as well as midfielders Rick Smith and captain Mark Lees.

A former Salford City player, Smalley initially signed for Ashton at the start of last season, having bounce back from a career threatening injury.

The full-back is said to have been one of the most important figures for the Robins last season.

Elsewhere, Coo re-signs for the club having won the Directors Player of the Year in 2016.

Coo has previously played for a number of clubs, including Curzon Ashton, Salford City and FC United of Manchester.

Maiese joins the club for a second season, having previously played for Italian giants Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old spent a couple of seasons at the San Siro, before being permanently sold in 2009.

Smith joins the club for a second season, having initially signed in the summer of 2016.

The midfielder was previously the captain at Radcliffe Borough.

Lees, who made his Robins’ debut as a teenager, can operate as a midfielder or defender.

A popular face at Hurst Cross, Lees has previously played for Stockport County in the National League North.
