In the Hyde & District Sunday League last weekend, Shamrock FC picked up their first piece of silverware of the season as they ran out 3-0 winners against Organ Athletic to claim the prestigious Challenge Cup trophy.

It was a comfortable victory for the Ancoats-based team over their Stalybridge opposition, with a thunderous volley from Chris Howells opening the scoring and Reece Coley bagging himself a brace.

In the John Mullen trophy, there was no cup final hangover for the Shamrock lads as they beat newly crowned Premier Division champions Charlesworth FC 4-3 less than 48 hours later to book themselves a spot in the semi finals against Blazing Rag.  The Rag beat a deflated Organ Athletic 7-3 to secure their spot.  The other semi final will be contested between Brushes Rangers (who beat FC Brittania 3-2) and Harehill Tavern (who beat Ridgehill Celtic 4-1).

In the Jack Stone Cup (Division One teams only), Roe Cross secured the remaining spot in the final as they ran out 4-2 victors over Brushes Rangers.  Roe Cross will now play Harehill Athletic in the final, to be played at Mossley FC’s Seel Park on Friday 5th May at 7.00pm.  £3 adults; £1 concessions.  The bar will be open, and we welcome you to support local football.
