A man has died in a quad bike accident in Ashton.

The 25-year-old man  (who has not yet been named) was riding a yellow Yamaha quad bike along Lordsfield Avenue from the direction of Turner Lane at 1.55pm on Saturday (13 May 2017).

Police say the quad bike came off the road near to the junction of Northumberland Road and Lordsfield Avenue before the rider also came off.

The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries where he sadly died.

Officers from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Senior investigation officer, Neil Pennington, said: “This quad bike would have stood out to anyone using the roads in that area at the time.

“If you saw anything but you haven’t spoken to police yet, please do so immediately.

“This man’s family are understandably devastated and we want to do everything we can to give them the answers they deserve.”
