A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a house in Gorton last month, while a mother and child were inside.

At 12.20am on Tuesday 21st March, a hooded man drove onto Sutton Road in a silver Volkswagen Golf and fired at least five shots from a handgun at the window. Thankfully, neither the woman nor child who were inside at the time were injured although they were left “extremely shaken”.

Yesterday, police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of firearms of firearms offences but have since released him under investigation.

Police enquiries are ongoing and they’re appealing to anyone who was in the area of Sutton Road around midnight on March 21st, who saw a black or silver VW Golf, a silver Peugeot 106, a Citroen C1, a Toyota Aygo or a black BMW X3, to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Muz Kernain, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “We are continuing our investigation and are appealing to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch. You may have information vital to our investigation.

“We are keen to speak with the driver of or anyone who has knowledge of a black BMW X3 car that was on or near Sutton Rd during these times.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 32 of 21/03/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, 0800 555 111.
