A second defeat of the Easter weekend appears to have all but condemned Celtic to Evo Stik Premier football for next season.
After a fantastic late charge at beating the drop it appears Celtic have just fallen short. Play off chasing Chorley quite simply bullied Celtic into submission with a well drilled and blood and thunder type performance. The only oal of a pretty dull affair came from centre half Andy Teague. The big defender who didn’t put a foot wrong all game headed a looping effort home from a Whitham free kick.
Branagan in the visitors goal picked up an injury in the first half and was clearly struggling but Celtic couldn’t muster up any real attempts to test the stopper. A problem of Celtic’s all season in a goal shy campaign. A goalless draw would probably have been a fair result but that Teague goal proved enough and sent the jovial chorley fans home in fine voice. A sad day for Celtic but with signs of improvement already evident under Steve Burr the Celtic faithful will be hoping for a much better season come August.
