Coming into the game on a four game unbeaten run and including toppling the leagues top two sides this loss was both a surprise and also very disappointing for all connected with Celtic.

In  a game that they controlled for long spells a red card for captain Matty Hughes ultimately cost Celtic any chance of taking a result.

The first half was all Celtic with Danny Pilkington pulling the strings for Steve Burr’s men. In fact it was the loss of the winger to injury that finally saw the home side get a grip in the game in the second half. However it was the red card that really changed the game. As Celtic counter attacked with pace the referee pulled the game to a halt. After consultation with his  assistant he sent Hughes off for an alleged elbow. Not long after and Gloucester took the lead. Shenton saved a Koteica shot and had the ball between his legs. But a quick thinking Hopper was n hand to poke the ball home from close range. Celtic picked themselves up quickly and the much sought after Kieran Dunbar levelled the game with a brilliant free kick.

A draw wouldn’t have been a bad result for Celtic but only a minute later Gloucester re took the lead and killed the game off. A free kick fried into the box was bundled home by Hopper with some question marks of handball. A crushing blow for Celtic in their quest for survival.
