Stalybridge Celtic 0-4 Tamworth

It has been on the cards for months but this crushing defeat finally confirmed relegation to the Evo Stik Premier for Stalybridge Celtic.

A horror show of a season finally caught up with Celtic and Tamworth made light work of this game to condemn a sorry looking Celtic.

After only seven minutes the visitors were two in front and coasting. Goal machine Danny Newton bagging a brace. Firstly he curled a smart effort into the top corner before only two minutes later he notched his second from close range. Things got worse for Celtic as player of the year Danny Wisdom was substituted with a hamstring injury before Tamworth made it three. A half cleared free kick feel to Fox who struck the ball from thirty yards and saw it whistle into the net.

Celtic were completely crest fallen and Tamworth may as well have been on the beach already. That didn’t stop Newton from claiming his hat trick however. A good cross into the box saw Newton rise and power a header into the top corner. A well taken goal to seal a perfect hat trick. A terrible way for Celtic to be relegated and a season everyone at Celtic will want to forget immediately. Post game a┬ádefiant Steve Burr vowed to bring the smiles back to Celtic fans. A vital rebuild on and off the pitch now commences.
