A man was hospitalised after a car careered into a garden wall in Audenshaw last weekend.

Shortly before 6:50pm last Saturday evening (April 1), emergency services raced to Droylsden Road after a silver Mazda and a grey Zafira collided.

One of the vehicles had collided with the garden wall of a house, close to Audenshaw tram stop.

A fire engine and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton-Under-Lyne and another from Stalybridge were in attendance for around an hour, as firefighters used specialist cutting and rescue gear to free the man from his car.

The man was taken to Tameside Hospital but was later discharged.

Another man and a woman rescued themselves from the crash and were unhurt.

While witnesses saw two unmarked police cars, four fire engines and two ambulances at the scene, with motorists and passengers on public transport were held up amid slow traffic.
