Crewe Alexandra have progressed to the Cheshire Senior Cup final after beating Hyde United 4-0 in the semi-final on Tuesday.

David Artell’s side cruised to victory thanks to an Owen Dale brace and solitary efforts from Callum Ainley and Charlie Kirk.

Both sides started the game off fairly well and created a number of good openings but were profligate in front of goal.

However, Crewe managed to take the lead on the stroke of half-time as Dale latched onto a long diagonal ball inside the box and poked home past Saunders in goal.

It didn’t take too long after the break for Crewe to double their lead.

Owen grabbed his second of the evening after receiving the ball from Kirk on the edge of the box, cutting inside and firing into the bottom left corner.

The game was out of sight five minutes later as Crewe made it 3-0 through Ainley.

After darting into the box, Owen played a teasing low ball across the face of goal and Ainsley swept home from close range.

Hyde rarely threatened throughout the game but did try and create chances.

However, their efforts were in vain as the visitors grabbed a fourth in the 88th minute through Kirk.

The winger, who had threatened all game, was in the right place at the right time to poke home from six yards out.

Crewe will meet the winner of Warrington Town and Nantwich Town in the Final.

Hyde return to Evo-Stik Division One North action against Radcliffe Borough at Ewen Fields on Saturday.
