Man rescued from Hyde stream by inshore rescue boat team

The GMFRS inshore rescue team based at Heywood in action. The team was deployed to rescue a man who had slipped down an embankment into a stream running under Halton Street in Hyde

A man was rescued from an unwanted dip in a Hyde stream by specialist teams from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, in the early hours of Sunday Morning,(March 12.)

The incident happened just before 2.00 a.m. as fire crews from Hyde and the inshore rescue boat from Heywood station and the technical and major rescue units from Ashton reacted to reports of a man having fallen down a steep embankment into a stream below.

The man possibly attempting to take a short cut, fell into the  stream running under Halton Street but was quickly rescued by the firefighters using a rope rescue equipment pack to pull him up the embankment.

Ambulance paramedics gave the casualty a precautionary check and GMFRS crews were in attendance for just 15 minutes.
