Droylsden play host to Glossop North End at the Butcher’s Arms in the Evo-Stik First Division North on Saturday (kick-off 15:00 GMT).

Both teams coming off the back of losses – the Bloods were defeated 4-2 at home by Colwyn Bay on Tuesday night and Glossop were defeated 3-2 at home by bottom-club Burscough on the same night.

Earlier in the season, when the two sides met, it finished 2-2 at Surrey Street, with one of the Glossop goal scorers being Jamie Rainford, who got a brace for Colwyn Bay against the Bloods in midweek.

With Rainford now gone, Glossop will be looking towards the goals of Max Leonard and Mike Norton this weekend; the pair have 17 and 16 goals respectively.

If any Hillmen fans want to make the trip to Droylsden, it is only around 12 miles.

Glossop will surely be the favourites in this fixture as they are currently matching the form of league leaders Farsley Celtic, whereas Droylsden are without a win in their last five league games.

The visitors could do with a win to catch up with third-placed Trafford, who are two points ahead but have played one more game. Dave Pace’s Droylsden, however, could distance themselves from the bottom five by claiming three points.

Glossop are 16 points ahead of the Bloods at the moment and, if statistics are anything to go by, then it should be a high and free-scoring game.

The Hillmen have netted 59 times this season and Droylsden have scored just one fewer than their opponents. Defensively, Glossop are the stronger team, only conceding 52 goals which is 20 less than Droylsden, who have let in 72.

Last season, Glossop finished superior to Droylsden and finished fourth in the league whereas the Bloods finished 19th but were comfortably safe by the end of the season.
