Mossley AFC is now one of six non-league football clubs in the running to win a share of the £100k product bursary for club improvements, provided by the Buildbase Club Renovation Programme.

The club will now go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium connected by EE in a Dragons Den-style pitching event with other teams from the Buildbase FA Vase and Buildbase FA Trophy competitions. Ultimately, two winning teams will each walk away with a £50,000 product bursary which includes building, electrical and hire products.

The clubs have been selected as finalists by Buildbase and The FA, chosen from a total of 47 applications from around the country. The fellow finalists are, from the Buildbase FA Trophy, Hanwell Town FC and Stafford Rangers FC and, from the Buildbase FA Vase, the teams are Cleethorpes Town FC, Hemsworth Miners Welfare FC and Cheadle Town FC.

In the initial application process, each of the clubs outlined their development plans if successful in the competition, while thousands of fans and local people went online to back their club’s application.

For the winning clubs, local Buildbase branches across England and Wales will be supporting them with information and advice and supplying the building products required for a renovation project.

Kate Tinsley, CEO of Buildbase said: “As part of our sponsorship of The Buildbase FA Trophy and Buildbase FA Vase competitions, we wanted to support football at grass roots level and help local clubs whose facilities may not have seen any investment for decades. Together with The FA we’ve reviewed every club who applied to the Buildbase Renovation Programme and are now looking forward to helping two of them get the improvements they need to make a big difference within the community.”

Mark Bullingham, FA Commercial Director said: “For a football club at any level, good facilities are key to creating a positive environment and a thriving culture. Thanks to our partnership with Buildbase, two non-league clubs have a wonderful opportunity to create a lasting legacy for their players and staff. I want to wish all six clubs who are participating the best of luck.”

The Buildbase Club Renovation Programme will run over two years, with £100,000 in building, electrical and hire products available for two clubs in 2017 and a further £100,000 for two additional clubs in 2018. Buildbase announced its two-year title sponsorship of The Buildbase FA Trophy and The Buildbase FA Vase in August last year.

The Buildbase FA Trophy is open to clubs playing in Steps 1-4 of The FA National League System the four tiers immediately below League Two of the English Football League. The current season has 276 clubs contesting for top honors.
