An evil paedophile who abused a vulnerable schoolgirl and kept her hidden in his Hyde home has been jailed for 27 years.

Michael Dunn carried out sex attacks on four women and girls in abuse carried out in Greater Manchester, as well as Teesside, in a sickening catalogue of sex crimes spanning five decades.

The 57-year-old sexually assaulted three young girls while living in Mottram, raping two of them, and repeatedly raping another woman, a court was told.

Dubbed Britain’s ‘Josef Fritz’, Dunn also built a ‘hidey hole’ to conceal one girl who was only 14 when police came to look for her.

His Tameside links were first revealed last month during his trial at Teesside Crown Court, where he was found guilty of 16 charges, including raping and molesting four women over a number of decades, imprisoning two of them as sex slaves.

It has since emerged that one of his victims went to Greater Manchester Police in 1993 but no action was taken.

The force voluntarily referred themselves to the IPCC, who are investigating why the young girl’s cry for help was ignored.

IPCC Commissioner Jan Williams said: “We will be looking to see what reports were made to the police at the time and how they were responded to.

“We will then review whether or not the allegations were dealt with in accordance with the national policing policies and guidance in place at the time.”

Dunn, of Redcar in Teesside, denied 19 charges and claimed the allegations were lies and the sexual attacks did not happen.

Jurors convicted him on 16 charges – 10 of rape, three of indecent assault, three of false imprisonment after two days of deliberations.
