Crown Green Bowls Looking ahead to a new season

In the forthcoming months, Reporter Sport will be bringing you weekly coverage of the Chadderton Bowls League and the Tameside Midweek Leagues.

The Chadderton season starts on Monday, April 24, with local sides Stalybridge Rec, Grapes Hyde, George & Dragon Hyde, & Ashton Cricket hoping to break Nimble Nook & Springbanks dominance of the top division.

Last Season’s top division runners up George and Dragon are away at Springbank A.

Top division newcomers Stalybridge Rec A are taking on Hopwood, while there is also an opening day local derby for Grapes A v Ashton Cricket.

In Division 2 Grapes B are away to Hollinwood Cricket, while in Division 3 Waterloo & Taunton are away at Diggle BC and Dukinfield Central travel to North Chadderton.

Stalybridge Rec B are away to Saddleworth Cricket in Division Four.

The county championships start in May with the Senior side taking on the North Midlands & The Greater Manchester Juniors (under 18s) taking on Lancashire. Home leg venues are yet to be decided.

Hadfield Bowling Club is running the Wilf Thomas Charity Pairs on Sunday, June 25. Entrance has been priced at £15 per pair. There is a limit of 32 pairs and a potential £200 award for the winners.

Stalybridge Rec will again be running its weekly free coaching sessions on Saturday mornings, 10-12, from Saturday, April 1. All equipment is provided and refreshments available. Ideal for the young (Coaches all CRB checked) or young at heart. Contact Simon Vincent 07889 814248
