Tintwistle Athletic 1st team made it through to the quarter-finals of the Rhodes Cup on Saturday, as they won 1-0 away to Chadderton Park.

Tintwistle were unfortunate not to take the lead in the very first minute when Josh Stevenson’s shot was well saved by the home keeper. Apart from that, the first half provided few clear-cut chances as the game proved to be very scrappy.

Tintwistle started the second half marginally better as they used the pace of Chris Rathburn and James Wilson out wide. Wilson began to cause the home defence problems, as Tintwistle looked to make the breakthrough. Several chances were wasted before it was Wilson who opened the scoring, with a neat finish into the bottom corner. Athletic saw the game out after Brockenbrow headed a shot off the line.

Tintwistle Athletic 3rd team ran out 10-3 winners at home to Rochdale Galaxy keeping their 2nd spot in the division.

Tintwistle Athletic U14’s drew 1-1 against 2nd placed Romiley in an exciting game. Athletic’s players didn’t get the rub of the green especially when Cam rounded the keeper only for the ball to get stuck in the muddy penalty area. Athletic’s goal game from a lovely piece of play and Kieran Coggin, who took the ball down well on his chest and placed it into the bottom corner. The equaliser was from a ball over the top which got the striker in on goal to finish. Man of the Match was Tobey Newton who again dominated the midfield.

U12 yellows won 9-0 against Stalybridge Celtic thanks to goals from Aron (3), Will (2), Ethan (2), Drew & Harry. MoMs Callum/Stevo.

Tintwistle Athletic U11 Blacks winning streak was ended at the weekend. Plenty of effort, just one of those days. Goal from Matteo.
Tintwistle Athletic U11 Blues unlucky to go out on pens. Proud of teamwork, effort and skill. Goals from Jack, Oscar & Oliver MOM Harry.
