Glossop North End have announced the departure of prolific striker Jamie Rainford.

The announcement was made 72 hours before Glossop’s 2-0 loss at Bamber Bridge on Saturday.

Rainford became Glossop’s leading scorer with 12 goals this season.

The striker has since moved to Colwyn Bay, where he featured in the starting XI which lost 2-1 to kendal Town on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Glossop have recruited the services of winger Jamie Matthews.

The 23-year-old has previously played for FC United, Hyde and Colwyn Bay. Jamie also reached the last 20 out of 7000 in Sky 1’s Football’s Next Star but had to withdraw because of injury.

Matthews made a late substitute appearance in Glossop’s 2-0 loss at Bamber Bridge on Saturday – a defeat which leaves the Hillmen 9th in the table.
