On a statement posted on Twitter, Millington said: “It is with great sadness that ┬ástep down from my role as first team coach at Curzon Ashton. During my time with the club i have been thrilled to work with this incredible group of players, i have marveled at the passion of the fans who are small in number but big in heart & i have enjoyed getting to know the selfless volunteers.

“I have made good friends in Mike and Jack. Mark Bradshaw, Rob Hurst and Nick Wild have also been a pleasure to work with.

“The work i have done with the players has been very satisfying & i feel that i have reached a point where i can have no further impact with the current structure. I am certain the club has a bright future under Harry, Natalie and the current board & i wish John, Nev & everyone involved with the club every success in the future. It is with a heavy heart that i leave but i feel privileged to have been involved with this special club.”

In other news, winger Johnny Gorman has signed on a dual registration with Atherton Collieries.
