Longdale Drive in Mottram where earlier today a gun man fired shots into one of the houses

A house in Mottram was targeted early this morning by a gunman who fired into the upstairs window of a property on Longdale Drive.

Police responding to the attack discovered that an upstairs window at the property suffered damage consistent with a gunshot attack.

The attack happened just after 3 am on Saturday morning and police believe those responsible made their escape in a  black Mercedes that was seen leaving the scene at speed.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed this to contact them.

Detective Constable Marc Barker GMP’s Tameside Borough CID said: “It is fortunate that no one was hurt, but a woman and children were at home at the time and were, understandably, terrified.

“We believe this was a targeted attack and I want to reassure the community that a team of officers is working on this case and we have increased patrols in the area.”
