A woman suffered a head injury after a car smashed into a house in Ashton on Tuesday morning.

Police, paramedics and fire crews rushed to Kings Road at around 10am after a black Land Rover Defender careered into the house after colliding with a silver Peugeot 308.

The woman was taken to Tameside Hospital with a head injury but it is not thought to be serious, while a man was left badly shaken but unhurt.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed nobody was in the house at the time.

Kings Road was closed for several hours between Anderton Grove and Queens Road while the two vehicles were removed and debris cleared from the street.

The car caused some damage to the house, with a hole and cracks to the brickwork visible.

Fire crews stayed at the site for much of the afternoon to carry out safety checks along the row of houses on the road.
