In the Hyde & District Sunday League, the performance of last weekend undoubtedly goes to the Railway FC. The Hyde League’s division one frontrunners were up against it in outside cup competition as they were paired with the Tameside Sunday League’s reigning Premier Division champions, Bulls Head FC, in the semi finals of the Stalybridge & Hyde Cup. The performance from the Railway FC epitomises the phrase ‘huge cup upset’. The Railway FC ran out 6-2 winners to ensure an all Hyde League final as they will play the winners of Roe Cross and Harehill Tavern, who battle it out for the remaining final spot.

The top three sides in the Premier Division continue their charge for the title after all recorded impressive victories last weekend. In a top versus bottom battle, Shamrock FC disposed of Tintwistle in emphatic fashion 9-1. Charlesworth remain in the shadow of Shamrock in second place as they ran out 3-1 victors over Kings Head. Harehill Tavern stay in third with a 2-0 win over Blazing Rag. Whilst the Tavern can still mathematically win the title, it seems unlikely in light of the Shamrock and Charlesworth’s rich vein of form.

In Division One, Railway FC still sit pretty on top of the division but Roe Cross won’t be giving up without a fight. They remain in third place with a 4-1 win over Commercial FC and still have three games in hand on their title rivals with an 11-point gap to make up.

FC Brittania booked their place in the final of the Rose Bowl as they needed extra time to defeat Harehill Athletic 5-2. They will play Premier Division opposition in the final as the Harehill Tavern or Blazing Rag compete in the other semi final.
