Curzon Ashton have announced the departures of Andy Watson and Simon Woodford.

Watson has moved to fellow National League North side FC United, while Woodford will be joining another club on a dual registration.

Regarded as fan favourites, both players joined the club in 2011 during manager John Flanagan’s debut season at the Tameside Stadium.

Despite a glittering few years and numerous appearances, Woodford will undoubtedly be remembered for scoring the winning goal in Curzon’s play-off final victory against Ilkeston in 2015.

Like Woodford, Watson also enjoyed two promotions with Curzon.

Commenting on the departures, manager John Flanagan told Curzon’s official website: “I just want to say a thank you to them both for the fantastic loyalty, consistent high level of performance and commitment they’ve provided.

“They’ve both contributed massively to the success we’ve enjoyed at Curzon and I the have utmost respect for them as people and footballers.

“I wish them both the very best of luck wherever they choose to play and they will of course always be welcome at Curzon.”
