Tintwistle Athletic 1st team made an excellent start to 2017 with an emphatic 10-0 win at home to Parrswood Celtic on Saturday.

Dylan Symons opened the scoring after 15 minutes after good work from Chris Rathburn on the right-hand side. Symons then doubled the lead not long after, as the Parrswood defence struggled to cope with the pace of Tintwistle’s attack. Shortly before half time, Symons completed a first half hat-trick after beating several defenders single-handedly before slotting past the keeper. In the second half, Tintwistle really settled down into their passing game and were getting in behind the Parrswood defence with ease. Rathburn made it 4-0 early on, at which point Parrswood seemed to capitulate. Further goals were added by Stevenson and Rodrigues and a further two for Rathburn to boost the home side’s goal difference.

However, the reserves and thirds both suffered defeats: the reserves 7-2 to local rivals Hollingworth, and the thirds a 4-1 defeat away at Village Manchester.

Tintwistle Athletic U14’s started the New Year in style with a 6-2 win over Spurley Hey. The lads dominated the game from start to finish with goals from, Alex Friend, Tobey Newton, Lewis Woolstencroft, Bradley Page and two from Cameron Cooper

Tintwistle Athletic U12s Yellows got 2017 off to a flyer too with lots of goals against Stalybridge: Aron 5, Ethan 4, Milan 3 & Harry 1 were the scorers.

U11 Blues played some wonderful football in awful conditions. Jack M bagged 4 and Oliver 2, both MOMS. Great teamwork too.
U11 Blacks off to a flier, great football and goals from Matteo 4 and Iñigo. MOMs Iñigo and Andre who was making his debut.
