Fire crews from Ashton-Under-Lyne, Stalybridge and Mossley  were conveyed in three fire engines  to a domestic house fire on Melbourne Street North, Ashton-Under-Lyne.

When crews arrived at the scene they discovered a fire within the terraced property already well alight and a potential casualty reported missing.

Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, breaking-in gear and to gain entry and tackle the blaze.

They were later able to confirm that the potential victim had in fact self rescued from the property.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was later used to clear the scene of smoke, crews were deployed at the scene for approximately one and a half hours.
