Neighbourhoods in Tameside are getting new star-rated MASTARPLANS to help improve local issues like crime, unemployment and health and make them better places to live.

Housing association New Charter Homes has launched new three-year MASTARPLANS for each of its 31 neighbourhoods, which also look at how happy residents are with their area.

The MASTARPLANS have been developed with feedback from tenants, partner agencies and staff and each plan measures performance and satisfaction against a set of actions and a star-rating system of 3, 4 and 5 stars (5 being the best).

New Charter Homes, part of the larger housing trust New Charter Group, launched its first three-year neighbourhood plans in 2013 and, in that time, most areas increased their star rating.

Emma Wilson, Executive Director of Communities at New Charter Group, said: “These new neighbourhood MASTARPLANS build on the work we’ve been doing over the last three years to improve areas.

“This time, we’re focusing on new local priorities based on feedback from tenants who’ve helped us to say what work needs to be done and where.

“There’s lots of work to do over the next three years and I’d like to encourage tenants to join us in this journey by continuing to give us their views on their neighbourhoods.”

The MASTARPLANS also give tenants advice on how to make their money go further with handy tips and links to affordable services.
