Stalybridge Celtic have announced the departure of midfielder Aiden Chippendale.

The 24-year-old will be joining National League North strugglers, Bradford Park Avenue.

A statement on Celtic’s forum said: “Aidan Chippendale will this week leave us to join Bradford Park Avenue.

“They submitted 7 days notice of approach for him. He lives 10 minutes from their ground, and they made him an offer he could not refuse.

“I’m sure you will join me and everybody else at Bower Fold in wishing him all the best for the future and thanking him for his two and a half years at the club.

“For the record Chippy made 95 appearances for us and scored 15 goals.

“All the best Chippy!”

A number of fans have responded to the announcement and thanked Chippendale for his services. A post on the forum stated: “I was very sad to hear on Saturday that Chippy was about to leave us for Bradford. I always felt that something good might well happen when Chippy had the ball at his feet. I never saw him have a bad game for us, merely that sometimes he tried too hard to help his team score. The somewhat lucky goal he scored against Harrogate nearly two years ago largely enabled us to stave off relegation. Many of his other goals (and near misses) were absolute crackers. He deserves to play at a better ground that the Horsfall Stadium and I’ll bet he’ll miss Bower Fold a lot.

“I’m sure I’m joining many others in thanking Chippy for his excellent service at Bower Fold and I wish him well for his future (except on Feb 25th that is).”

Chippendale provided his own thoughts following the announcement. On Twitter, he said: “As the club have announced i will be leaving and signing for Bradford Park Avenue in the coming week.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at the club. The managers, players, board members, kit-men and last but not least the fans.

“Through my two and a half season i have thoroughly enjoyed myself and met some great people.

“Thank you for everything Stalybridge. Looking forward to my new chapter with Bradford Park Avenue.”

Celtic claimed a much-needed three points against FC Halifax Town in a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

Chris Baguley, who recently joined from Ashton United, scored the goal in the dying stages of the game.
