A-Level students from Clarendon Sixth Form College enjoyed a careers event that introduced them to different careers through inspirational talks from professionals in a variety of fields.

Speakers at the Ashton college included professionals in finance, engineering, marketing and criminal investigation.

The Tameside Reporter’s very own Matt Hewitt also delivered a PowerPoint presentation to students about how he got into journalism and offered advice to the group.

Martin Solly, Brand Manager for Late Rooms, who spoke about careers in copywriting, said: “Students were engaged and interested in the careers event and it was great to be speaking amongst other professionals from such a diverse range of careers.

“I’m passionate about copywriting and getting the message out there to the students. There is always a route into what you want to do.”

Corinne Rainey, Progress and Welfare Team Leader at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “I think the careers session went really well, it was a fantastic opportunity for students to hear from professionals who are successful in their chosen fields. All part of them then making informed career choices and taking action now.”
