Striding Out Schools take part in cross country championships

Over 500 athletes took part in the annual Tameside Schools Cross Country at East Cheshire Harriers Athletics Club on Tuesday 6th December. Weather was perfect for distance running and New Charter Academy had the responsibility of organising the event and providing the ‘Hare’- athlete George Lewis.

Results were as follows:

U12 Boys- West Hill School
U12 girls- St Damians RC Science College
U14 Boys- West Hill School
U14 Girls- St Thomas More RC Computing College
U16 Boys- West Hill School
U16 Girls- St Damians RC Science College

Overall Results:

2016/17 Boys Winners- West Hill School
2016/17 Girls Winners- Fairfield High School

Participating schools:
West Hill, Fairfield High School, Audenshaw New Charter Academy, St Damians RC SCience College, Denton CC, St Thomas More RC Science College, Droylsden Academy, All Saints CC, Hyde CC, Londendale CLC, Mossley Hollins, Alder CC, Samuel Laycock.

A great day was had by all. The top 10 runners in each race will now represent the borough in the Greater Manchester event next year.
