Boy, 12, causes £100s of damage to Ashton businesses

A 12-year-old boy has appeared before Tameside youth court, charged with causing hundreds of pounds of damage to two Ashton businesses.

The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted causing damage to the tune of £700 in the town’s Subway on Ashton Retail Park, plus smashing a window causing £880 of damage at the E-cig shop on Cavendish Street in the town.

He was given a 12-month youth rehabilitation order and was banned from associations with a number of named individuals. A £20 victim surcharge must also be paid.

The offences had happened in September.
