Growing 16 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £16,000 has landed a Tameside man a suspended jail sentence.

Christopher Ablott was given a six month prison term suspended for 24 months after being found guilty by Tameside magistrates of producing the plants at an address in Ashton in July this year.

The 25-year-old, of Hobson Crescent, Audenshaw, had denied the offence.

He has also been ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work, plus pay £765 associated court costs.
