Police were called to Ashton-under-Lyne train station last Saturday evening, following reports that a group of youths were trying to break into a disabled toilet.

British Transport Police received a message through their non-emergency 61016 text service from a concerned passenger at around 4:45pm.

It said a number of young people were seen attempting to force their way into the toilet between Platforms 1 and 2, which is believed to have been locked at the time.

However, when officers arrived at the station on Wellington Road around 15 minutes later, they checked with people on the platform to see if they saw anything but could find no-one.
