Tameside Toy Appeal launches this weekend

The Tameside Toy Appeal officially launches in Ashton this weekend.

Tameside 4 Good has once again joined forces with the Tameside Reporter, Tameside Radio and Tameside Council’s Early Help Team to run this year’s campaign.

The launch will be a festive day to remember.

Come and join us along with the Tameside Radio Outside Broadcast team on Ashton Market at the end of the Ladysmith Shopping Centre (by the TV screen) in between the old M&S shop and the Cooperative Bank from 10am tomorrow (Saturday).

We will be joined by The Rotary Club of Tameside, and you can meet Santa on his sleigh, Tameside Radio Ted and New Charter’s Nora the Owl mascots.

There will be brass band music and more.

To help us launch this amazing appeal we’re asking anyone who can donate a new unwrapped toy to please bring it along on Saturday.

All donations will be gratefully received.

Around 10,490 children in Tameside live in poverty. They won’t wake up to find presents under a brightly lit tree. With your support, the Tameside Christmas Toy Appeal can change this. All toys donated are distributed to Tameside children living in poverty.

Can you help make this Christmas one to remember for a Tameside child? We need businesses and local centres across Tameside to sign up to be drop off points, support with logistics and storage.

Amy, Tameside 4 Good fundraiser, said: “Last Christmas, we were overwhelmed with the support which resulted in over £20,000 worth of toys being donated to disadvantaged children in Tameside.

“Once again we are seeking the support of local businesses and the community to help local children celebrate Christmas.

“We will be asking our local community to donate a new, unwrapped toy for children aged from birth to 18 years old, who may not receive a present. The toys are given to youngsters in need and we know this really makes a difference.”
