Audenshaw School 1st XV rugby stars, Ewan Roach and Dan Johnson have become the latest products to earn their opportunity in the professional ranks of the game.

They have become the 32nd and 33rd Audenshaw players since 2007 to be selected by a professional club.

Roach, 18, joined the school in 2011 and rapidly established himself as a multi sports star amongst a very talented year group that also includes Warrington Wolves forward, Ellis Robson and England Hockey star, Liam Kennerley.

Roach focused on his football career in his early years whilst playing school rugby alongside this and was part of the Audenshaw Touring Party to France in 2014.

He made the decision to commit to rugby later than many of his new teammates and was developed further at Aldwinians RUFC where he played a number of senior fixtures last season before his performances for the Audenshaw 1st XV saw him scouted by Halifax.

Johnson, 17, is the brother of well known former student, Jack Johnson who is now a first team regular at Warrington Wolves.

Dan himself has been attracting the attention of the game’s elite for some time now through his performances for Audenshaw and has been a been a part of the Salford Red Devils Development Squad for two years.

The full back or winger has exhibited a tremendous desire and work rate throughout his time at Audenshaw and this will serve him well in his new challenge in the Kingstone Press Championship as Halifax look to make a push for Super League status this year.
