Stalybridge Celtic have signed Keil O’Brien on a permanent basis following his release by Southport earlier this month.

The defender spent a four-game loan spell from Southport at Bower Fold in October.

Upon being released from Manchester United’s Youth Academy, O’Brien joined Glossop North End in 2009 and made three appearances.

He then joined Northwich Victoria in 2010, spending time on loan with Radcliffe Borough.

O’Brien then joined Mossley in 2011, making 60 appearances and scoring once, before heading to Chorley where he notched three times in 59 appearances.

The defender registered his name on the score sheet twice during his 32 games with Bury in 2014.

O’Brien also spent a month on loan at Halifax Town.

Meanwhile, striker Liam Dickinson has also extended his loan spell from Bradford Park Avenue until 24 January.
