A number of stores from Clarendon Square Shopping Centre are hosting a fun-filled week of fundraising events over the coming days to get behind the BBC’s Children in Need appeal.

Shoppers from across Hyde are invited to take part as Greggs, Shoe Zone and Boots Opticians will be hosting in-store fundraisers this Friday and Saturday, with exciting money-raising activities including a tombola, themed cupcakes, raffles and a visit from Pudsey Bear.

Paula Wood, Clarendon Square Shopping Centre manager, said she is proud of the three stores’ fundraising efforts.

She said: “Charity fundraising is very important to us at Clarendon Square, so we are really pleased that Greggs, Shoe Zone and Boots Opticians are taking part in Children in Need this year,” she said.

“On Friday, Greggs will be out on the mall running a tombola for customers to win fun prizes, whilst Shoe Zone will be selling Pudsey Bear cupcakes. Plus, Boots Opticians will be giving one of their shoppers the chance to win a cosmetics bundle full of No.7 products.

She added: “The fundraising fun will continue on Saturday with a visit from Pudsey Bear between 9am and 2pm. I am sure the children visiting the centre will have a great time meeting and having their pictures taken with the charity’s mascot.

“The money raised from BBC’s Children in Need will benefit a number of groups in the Tameside area including the Bhutanese Welfare Association, the Restorative Community Service and the Water Adventure Centre, so we are encouraging shoppers and retailer staff to stop by and make a small donation.

“We would like to wish our fantastic retailers the best of luck with their fundraising next week and we look forward to meeting Pudsey Bear.”
