Heartbeat Chorus, a choir made up of 72 individuals from all over the North West, including Hilary Orr, a Work Experience Officer at Tameside College, made their way to the semi-finals of a singing world championship this year.

They beat their UK competitors to become British Sweet Adeline Champions in May 2015, and this took them half way around the world to Las Vegas for this semi -final round.

Hillary said: “I love singing and from the humble beginnings of singing in the Tameside College choir, I can’t believe the journey I’ve been on.”

After weeks of rehearsals, which included a quick mid-flight performance for their fellow passengers, Heartbeat Chorus finally performed on the MGM Grand stage.

After the judges deliberation, they were ranked 19th in the world out of all the 600 choruses and were the highest ranking British chorus!

“It was so poignant to walk past photos of the many famous stars who had performed at the MGM, that was my wow moment.

“I had the time of my life singing at the MGM Grand and look forward to many more like experiences with my Heartbeat Chorus friends.”
