The Tameside Football League produced some notable results on Sunday, as Division One leaders Vulcans FC fell to a surprising 1-0 defeat to Snipe FC.

Deane Fraine grabbed the all-important goal which pushes Snipe to fifth in the table on six points.

Vulcans remain top despite the loss, although Dom Doyle FC maintain the pressure in second spot having played two games less.

Whitworth Valley gained their first win of the season with a 2-1 win against league strugglers, Old Ball FC.

The team have failed to pick up a solitary point in their opening five games.

In Division Two, defeat for Crown Point Tavern dealt a huge blow to their title ambitions.

The league leaders were beaten 4-3 by Lodge FC, who, in the process, moved to second in the table.

Arden Arms FC and Medlock Sports FC currently occupy third and fourth spot, while AFC Sportsman Hyde are rooted to the foot of the table after a winless start to the season.

In Division Three, Dom Doyle Rangers cruised to a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Oxford Inn FC.

Gene Hoole notched four on the day, while Matthew Soares grabbed a brace.

Liam Hanmer also registered on the score sheet with a solitary effort.

The result leaves Rangers sitting top of the table on 19 points, having played seven games to date.

Iraq FC occupy second spot, while Bohemian Lounge sit third.

Bohemian were held to a 3-3 draw against Astley Arms, while Iraq beat Dukinfield Town 2-1 away from home.
