Two injured after roof collapse at Manchester Victoria train station

TWO people were injured after a section of roof collapsed at Manchester’s Victoria train station on Tuesday evening.

The collapse happened shortly before 5pm, following heavy rain.

Emergency services attended and workmen quickly began repairing the roof.

Train services to and from the station were reportedly unaffected by the incident and the station remained open.

In a statement, a Northern spokesperson said: “Following heavy rain, an ETFE roof panel has come away over Platforms 1 and 2 at Manchester Victoria station.

“Emergency services have attended to treat two customers with minor injuries. Contractors are now attending to repair and secure the roof.

“The station remains open, as do all platforms with no disruption to services.”
