Police were called to reports of an armed robbery at the Snipe branch of the McDonalds at 1 45 am this morning. (Friday 27th October)

Armed robbers burst into the Snipe Retail Park branch of McDonalds, in Ashton in the early hours of Friday morning and demanded cash from terrified staff.

Police acknowledge they were called to the take away outlet at 1 -45 am this morning (Friday 28th of October) to respond to reports that two men armed with a gun, had threatened staff and escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Police confirmed that were no injuries, though there is an unconfirmed report that the gun was discharged during the course of the robbery.

Police ask that anybody with any information should call them on 101 and quote reference 152.
