A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car on Huddersfield Road this morning.

Police were called to the scene, close to Copley Academy, at 8:50am and found a 12-year-old boy had been run over.

Thankfully, the boy was conscious and breathing. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The incident caused long tailbacks on both sides of the road but traffic has now cleared.
