Burnt grass marks the spot where the charred and mutilated body of the mystery murder victim was discovered near Tintwistle on Monday morning .

Murder detectives seeking to identify the man whose charred remains were discovered in a Lay-by off the A628 road near Tintwistle, are appealing to motorists for help.

Derbyshire Police are asking motorists who travel on the road regularly or were driving on the road on Sunday, to call in with their vehicle model and registration number so they can be eliminated from their enquiries.

They are specifically asking people who travel between Tintwistle and the Flounch roundabout at Penistone to come forward.

CCTV is in position at both points and also in between and police believe it could play a major role in helping them trace the vehicle that brought the body to the location at which it was found.

Police believe that the body which they revealed at a press conference in Glossop yesterday was minus its limbs and head, was dumped at the site north of  Valehouse and Rhodeswood reservoirs and about a mile east of Tintwistle on the A628 on Sunday evening.

It is also thought that the body was conveyed to the spot in a suitcase, the charred remains of which which found near the body.

The police are also asking for anybody who was in the area between nine and midnight on Sunday October 9th to come forward.

A special number has been set up to deal with information 0800 056 0944.
