The Tameside Football League are delighted to announce that a new sponsorship deal has been agreed with Sports Tours International Ltd.

Run by local businessman Chris Bird, Sports Tours International is one of the UK’s largest specialist sports travel companies, taking thousands of participants and spectators to sports events around the world, including the TCS New York City Marathon, L’Etape du Tour and Le Tour de France.

More locally, Sports Tours re-established the iconic Tour of Tameside running event which returned to the borough last year for the first time in more than a decade.

Growing from strength to strength, the company is also a keen supporter of other running events such as the ‘We Love Manchester 10k’ and the ‘City of Salford 10k’.

Tameside Football League Secretary, Graham Dixon, stated that he was delighted with the new deal and hoped it would be the beginning of a long partnership. He told Reporter Sport: “The sponsorship will be used across the league with subsidised FA Coaching courses, FA Referees courses, and courses for Club Welfare Officers being high on the agenda.

“The sponsorship will not only benefit the League but will be used to the benefit those participating in Grassroots Football.

“The final part of the sponsorship agreement will see the League incorporating the companies name; Tameside Sports Tours International Football League.”

Chris said he was ‘delighted’ to be supporting grassroots football, while adding: “It is important to our business that more people get active and keep fit no matter what your age or standard is.

“Tameside is a fantastic area for sport and we are committed to ensuring it stays that way.”
