Man Cut Free From Car Following Accident In Uppermill

Firefighters took an hour to cut a man free from his car following a crash in Uppermill.

At 12:30am yesterday morning (18 September) crews from Oldham and Ashton attended a collision on High Street.

A Volkswagen estate car had crashed and a man was trapped inside.

The technical rescue unit from Ashton attended and used specialist equipment, including a hearth kit, step chocks, cutting gear, a hose reel, plastic salvage sheets and a saw.

Lights were also required due to the time of night when the rescue took place.

After being freed, the man was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance service.
