Domestic fires at two properties.

Two properties were affected by fire in the area yesterday,(Thursday, September 1) a ground floor flat was burnt out  in a mid morning blaze on Fairfield Avenue, Droylsden.

Firefighters had to use six breathing kits and two hose reels and a ventilation fan to bring the fire under control.

Three fire engines from Philips Park and Ashton-under-Lyne and their crew were at the scene for two hours to bring the blaze under control.

A few hours later fire broke out at a house in Openshaw, two fire engines were called at 12.16pm to tackle a fire that had started among the roof timbers in a three-storey house were on Ashton Old Road, Openshaw.

Firefighters tackled the blaze using a hose reel a thermal image camera and a 19-metre ladder to reach the high roof.

One casualty said to be suffering with shock was treated by ambulance staff at the scene, Fire crews from Philips Park and Ashton-under-Lyne were at the scene on  for one hour before leaving satisfied the fire was completely exstinguished
