Grants of more than £1.2m to voluntary and community groups are expected to be approved by Derbyshire County Council next week.

It follows a 12-week consultation looking at how the council allocates money from its adult care budget to organisations providing a range of support to older and vulnerable people.

Following public feedback from a series of meetings, councillors will consider a report at a Cabinet meeting next Tuesday which recommends continuing many of its services for another 18 months.

If agreed, the council will commit to support these groups until the end of March 2018 – with no guarantee of future funding – but will help them to find money from other sources to support their ongoing work.
