Stalybridge Celtic fell to a 3-1 defeat against Stockport County in their first home clash of the season this evening.

The visitors opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time through a 30 yard strike from Cortney Meppen-Walter.

Celtic drew matters level in spectacular style in the 65th minute through a Jimmy Ball thunderbolt.

However, Jim Gannon’s side reasserted their lead through John Marsden in the 72nd minute, before wrapping the game up with seven minutes left through Josh Amis.

Celtic are back in league action at home to Salford City on Saturday.
