Legends on the Low as Hyde Cricket Club Face PCA Masters

It was touch and go all day, but Hyde Cricket Club finally faced off against the PCA England Masters to round off a fantastic day on Werneth Low on Friday.

Mark Ramprakash, Phil Defreitas and Steve Harmison were just some of the stellar names who turned out for the Masters team… but there was nearly no game for them to play!

Members and players did an excellent job to ensure the bumper crowd saw some action, working tirelessly throughout the day to get the pitch in working order, despite the constant downpour.

Typically, as the match finally got underway, the sun shone and in a tense game, Hyde just missed out on an upset, losing by 9 runs against legends of the game.

The match was a fitting end to what had been a great day at Hyde CC. Sixteen junior teams from the surrounding area were invited to play in an U-11s tournament. The kids did well to brave the conditions, especially Cheadle CC and Flowery Field CC, who won the Winners Cup and Juniors Shield respectively.

As they slogged it out in the rain, the adults were wining and dining inside at the fundraising lunch, enjoying the company of the England legends, including some of the 2005 Ashes heroes.
