As Manchester Grammar School celebrates another year of outstanding exam results for its Sixth Form pupils, one lad from Hyde is celebrating being top of the class!

18-year-old Ezekiel Lee achieved an outstanding five A*s in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Art, meaning he is the highest performing student at the school.

Ezekiel is going on to study engineering at Cambridge University. Speaking about his success, Ezekiel said: “I was pretty surprised I got 5 A*s – I really didn’t expect it in Art, so I’m very happy indeed.

“I’ll be studying engineering at Cambridge so I’m looking forward to starting in September at Fitzwilliam College. My time here at MGS has been lots of fun; the teaching staff have been very supportive. I’m really looking forward to what the future holds.”

Oxford and Cambridge offered places to 29 Manchester Grammar pupils including Ezekiel, with more than 580 offers made from Russell Group Universities in total.

Other destinations to which MGS pupils will be heading this autumn include Imperial, UCL, LSE, Durham, Warwick, York, KCL, Manchester, Nottingham and Leeds as well as Yale and Princeton in America.

Dr Martin Boulton, High Master at The Manchester Grammar School, concluded: “I am absolutely delighted with Ezekiel’s achievements – and that of all our boys, which is a true testament to their hard work and dedication.

“It is a source of great pride for us to have seen these boys grow and mature into young men throughout their time here at MGS, and today they have been rewarded with excellent grades and places at some of the most prestigious universities in the world.

“In congratulating them, I would also like to wish them every success as they take the next exciting steps of their academic journeys.”
