Former West Hill School pupil Rob Holding made his Premier League debut for Arsenal on Sunday.

The defender, who joined the Gunners from Bolton Wanderers in July for £2m, was selected in the starting XI which fell to a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool.

Holding, 21, scored for Arsenal in a 3-1 pre-season friendly victory over Chivas in Los Angeles.

On Sunday, Arsene Wenger’s side took the lead against Liverpool through Theo Walcott in the 31st minute, only for Liverpool to equalise on the stroke of half-time through Philippe Coutinho’s brilliant free-kick.

Jurgen Klopp’s side looked a different team in the second half and were 4-1 up by the 63rd minute.

Despite attempting to claw their way back into the tie through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Callum Chambers, Liverpool held out for a 4-3 victory.

The Gunners face champions Leicester on Saturday at the King Power Stadium.
