Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a 28-year-old man was assaulted in a pub in Stockport.

At around 2.35am on Saturday 14 May, a man was assaulted in the George pub on Wellington Road North.

The offender hit the victim with an unknown implement, which caused him to fall to the floor, before he attempted to stamp on the victim’s head but was restrained by staff at the bar.

The 28-year-old man suffered a large cut above his left eye and went to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Detective Constable Jane Dodd of GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “This attack is an awful display of violence, which could have caused a young man to lose his sight.

“I’m appealing to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV, please contact police as you may be able to help us with the investigation.”
